Minneapolis, MN May 20 /V-Newswire/–Be GOOD is an organization that receives financial support from the sale of “Don’t Just be Good At It – Be GOOD” products as well as donations from the public and private contributors, organizations and corporations.
Be GOOD Baby is an innovative concept in serving a largely un-served group of “at risk youth”. It is our belief that reaching out to 8-13 year old fatherless boys before they are consistently demonstrating serious problems in school and at home is integral to the future success of our nation.
Our program partners these boys with university athletes in a structured athletic setting focusing on developing fundamental athletic skills, relational and communication skills as well as a simple yet innovative nutrition program. As a result, our program creates physically fit, mentally strong, rapport building youth that find it easier to succeed in school and at home. Additionally our program benefits the college athletes involved by beginning to prepare them for adult life by exposing them to some of the considerations involved in having a son or daughter and certainly as leader in the community by enhancing their communication and relational skills. Additionally we provide networking and other resources to the mothers of our fatherless boys to aid them in managing their household and planning for their future education, family and career success.
Sales of “Don’t Be Good At It – Be GOOD” products donates 30% of its net profits to Be GOOD Baby in an effort to make the non-profit fully self supporting.

The TMI:
Like many of life’s greatest gifts this venture began as a little part of me that simply took on a life of its own. While working as a Senior Account Executive in the information technology field I coined this phrase and used it as a sign-off on my personal e-mails. Eventually I took the risk of using it in my professional emails as well, certainly by that time my clients already knew that the phrase reflected who I am in so many ways and it was very well embraced. As you may suspect, the saying caught on and people began to comment about it. Some even asked if they could use it in their own emails.
Suddenly Jobless:
In August of 2006 I left the position in I.T. and began seriously toying around with this fabulous non-profit concept that I had conceived of a few years earlier that served an un-served group – fatherless boys ages 8-13 years old. This too has a meaningful story of one Mother’s Day with my son Jordan but I will save that story for Oprah. The great part is that this unique program serves multiple groups and is cost effective.
The Program:
Working in alignment with a local university and their athlete volunteers, we are creating future college students, better athletes, stronger communications skills, more respect for authority figures and better future fathers. That doesn’t even include what this program does for the athlete volunteers, the university or for the mothers of these fatherless boys.
A Sizable Snafu:
Unfortunately within a month of my decision to move forward I became seriously ill and throughout my recovery I experienced many profound changes. That period of time is definitely worthy of a book!
Follow The Dream That Keeps Coming Back – It Is Your Destiny:
Once I recovered from my illness it seemed silly to move forward with this Social Entrepreneurial venture because I had a life to rebuild in numerous ways, so I walked away from this saying and the project and moved back into the professional world. I took an entry level position at Best Buy for Business and at the six week marker created a highly sought after alignment between Best Buy for Business and the globally acclaimed WOLF (Women’s Leadership Forum). Shortly thereafter I received what appeared to be a good offer from another organization and decided it was best for my family to take it. I was saddened to leave my mentors and friends at Best Buy but it seemed to be the right move. Unfortunately that move was unsuccessful, but through it all God kept putting this project back in my lap in various ways. I won’t go into all of the ironies but they were so noticeable to myself and others that I have referred to the venture as my “God” project for some time now. As of this writing the first order of t-shirts have arrived, so many of us have waited with anxious anticipation to see if this project of sharing GOODness that has moved us so deeply will find a home in the hearts and minds of others as well.
