Candidate to discuss Mayor’s silence on Metro Gang Strike Force and other important issues
MINNEAPOLIS, MN- Al Flowers will hold a press conference outside the Mayor’s Office, 331 City Hall (third floor), Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 10:00 A.M. CST to talk about the urgent need for leadership at a time when the Minneapolis police department and state law enforcement agencies are under increased scrutiny for allegations of malfeasance as well as the mayor’s silence on a host of other critical issues now facing Minneapolis residents.
Flowers, the most well-known DFL candidate to challenge incumbent Mayor R.T. Rybak stated, “To date, the mayor has adopted a typical Rose Garden re-election strategy . . . the arrogant belief that he can say as little as possible while coasting to re-election victory. We need a mayor that is as concerned about fighting for Minneapolis residents who are having their houses foreclosed on-or being accosted by police officers-as he is about trying to run for governor. We can and must do better than this.”
Media is encouraged to attend.
